Alejandro Alvarez de la Campa, based out of Johannesburg (South Africa), is currently leading the IFC's Financial Infrastructure Program in Sub-Saharan Africa and is the Global Product Leader for IFC's Secured Transactions and Collateral Registries advisory product. He has worked in more than 40 developing economies worldwide. Before this position, he held other positions in IFC and the World Bank, in the Small and Medium Enterprise Department and in the Foreign Investment Advisory Service (FIAS), where he worked on access to finance for SMEs and business environment issues throughout the globe. Alejandro has also worked in the past as an adjunct Professor of Law at American University in Washington D.C. A Spanish national, prior to joining IFC, he worked in the private sector in Spain (financial consulting services).
