According to Mastercard, small businesses around the world will have access to a comprehensive array of products and services. The goal of this initiative is to enable simpler business operations for SMBs globally. When fully integrated, businesses can run their company with greater ease, efficiency, and profitability.

US Department of Energy Announces $121 Million for Small Business Research and Development Grants

U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry today announced that the Department of Energy will award 113 grants totaling $121 million to 103 small businesses in 29 states.  Funded through DOE’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs, small businesses that demonstrated technical feasibility for innovations during their Phase I grants competed for funding for prototype or processes development during Phase II.

Páramo shared, “Bank funding is the main source of external financing for SMEs. We focus on what makes it difficult for them [SMEs] to access finance, in particular non-standardized information they produce. We are entirely focused on SMEs.”

SME Finance Forum CEO, Matthew Gamser, moderated a panel at Finovate Europe 2019 called "The 20/20 Hindsight Sessions: Routes to digitisation and transformation, from technical and cultural standpoints."

The discussion was about translating strategy into results, putting new systems into place, shifting company culture, and the various roadblocks encountered. They also spoke on the shift of power from financial services to the consumer: a paradigmatic shift that enables fintech.
